I have been going to Landis off and on for 16 years and I absolutely love this salon! They always start with a relaxing shoulder/neck massage. Followed by a sit in the best massage chair while they shampoo and condition your hair. This service alone deserves 5 stars but then they add a top notch hair cute, blow dry and style. Sabra is a master of her art and the best cut and colorist in Salt Lake. She is kind and attentive and I always leave feeling like a million bucks!

Landis/Ben quickly contacted me following this review. He was very understanding of my feelings on this issue, and resolved to discuss this with the hairstylist. He also offered a very generous gift to use at my next visit. I have been going to Landis for over 10 years, and this was the only time it was a bad experience. I have always enjoyed my visit, results and stylists in the past. I am grateful Ben has followed through on resolving this issue, it is much appreciated.

I had a horrible experience with Thomas this past Thursday. I came in for a trim and let him know I was learning how to bring out my hair’s waves and growing it out to donate. I was willing to donate that day if it wouldn’t end up too short, but he told me the ends were damaged and they couldn’t use them, so where we’d have to start was going to be too short for me. He said I was better off cutting the ends and then donating in the future. He also told me I had a lot of buildup that was contributing to the tangling I was experiencing. Instead of washing and combing my hair to see the natural wave, he proceeded to dry cut off at least 5 INCHES straight across without confirming with me first or asking my permission. When he originally showed where he’d have to start with the donation, it was maybe 2” up and some of that could have been preserved by taking the time to trim carefully, not to mention trimming the layers 3-4” above that. I have cried every day, especially because the result is boxy, shapeless (he offered layers to bring out more curl but said it would be higher maintenance, so I declined, but the ends are so blunt and square), AND uneven—one side is longer than the other. I called yesterday and the receptionist really listened and was apologetic, but I have yet to hear from management as promised. I think Thomas was running behind and wrote me off (he wasn’t friendly nor did he engage in conversation when I tried) and he did what was easiest or what he thought I should do without regard for what I want every. I loved my hair and now I hate it. I lost at least a year+ to grow it out where it was, plus more time to donate it. Why the salon would pair a low-maintenance, long-haired person with someone who specializes in color and short bobs is beyond me. I’m so angry and sad and disappointed; I was afraid to get a haircut and this confirmed my fear. I had been coming to Landis for years before moving away and moving back and had my hair done here for my wedding. My fondness has diminished significantly.

I’ve been going to Landis to see Kelly for quite a while and I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. She always listens, gives great advice, and works with me to give me the best cut possible. She’s prompt, conscientious, and very good at what she does. On top of it all, she’s kind and polite and I always leave the salon in a great mood, happy with my hair.

Shawn Kirk is excellent at his craft. I hadn’t had a professional cut/color in ten years and he worked magic on me. In addition, he’s such a warm, positive soul. The salon is beautiful and the staff were very kind and service oriented. Highly recommend to anyone.
