Social Profile:

Shaina’s practice combines manual therapy techniques and tools for mindfulness and interoception, supporting clients in coming home to their bodies and lives. Bodywork sessions draw on several modalities, including visceral manipulation, neuromeningeal manipulation, deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, and Craniosacral Therapy. In Craniosacral Therapy sessions, clients receive non-invasive hands-on work, promoting expansion and centering in their systems. Our bodies are wise and when witnessed through responsive touch, drop into the parasympathetic nervous system, where our self-healing mechanisms can act to their highest potential. This may manifest as the unwinding of chronic holdings in the body or as deep rest and relaxation.

Shaina Cantino is a wonderful bodywork practitioner. I’ve experienced both her massage and craniosacral sessions, and both are true gifts.

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityShaina is a very very gifted massage therapist. I feel so lucky to have found her. She is deeply intuitive and somehow is able to target my painful areas with great gentleness, almost like washing them away by reconnecting them with the rest of my body. I always used to think that a massage needed to be painful (hard pressure, “working out knots,” etc.) in order to be effective, but Shaina has totally changed how I think about what a massage is and what makes it effective. For just one example: last year, over the course of several months, I developed really awful tightness and pain in my neck and lower skull. It was waking me up at night, and it also seemed related to this sudden onset of really bad tinnitus that was also causing me to lose sleep and just generally feel despairing. I finally went to see Shaina and she healed me–I could literally feel the pressure in my neck and skull diminishing, and when I woke up the next day (after sleeping through the night!) my tinnitus was gone. I have really decided that seeing her once a month from now on is a crucial aspect of taking care of myself.Shaina is not only a gifted massage therapist, she is also just a very calm/calming person to interact with. The moment I step into the room, I feel stress start to drop from me. I find her massages to be as helpful mentally as they are physically–she creates an atmosphere of deep quiet and calm where time seems to stop and I find my mind able to wander in ways it normally isn’t able to.I wish I knew more of the technical details of what she is actually doing with her hands, because it’s so powerful and I would love to be able to describe what actually makes her so different from other bodywork professionals I have seen.I can not recommend her highly enough. Seeing her is always a great experience and I always leave feeling lighter and younger and enormously refreshed.Shaina is a very very gifted massage therapist. I feel so lucky to have found her.
