I found Ayari on Instagram. Her before and after photos were phenomenal and most importantly to me as a Black woman, she worked with a rainbow of hues. I did my trial with Ayari for an engagement shoot and she came out to my Mom’s home to apply the makeup. My makeup was flawless and beautiful. My fiancé, at the time, complimented me on my makeup and he is not a makeup person, so I was even more assured I found the perfect vendor. Even on camera, my makeup looked flawless and lasted the whole day. On the day of the wedding, unfortunately, Ayari was down a person due to a personal loss and she was great communicating that to me the before the day of. Ayari asked me what I wanted my family to look like and I said natural, not looking like harlots but ultimately whatever they wanted. So one the day of, I believe that due to Ayari arriving late, being down a person and my guests asking for more “complicated” makeup vs a natural look, caused us to fall behind the schedule. I think the stress of it all came across toward the end from Ayari and because everyone was rushing out to get ready, tips were forgotten (they were taken care of within 48 hours after the wedding). It didn’t leave the best taste in our mouth but in no way ruined the experience. Ultimately, every single woman from my Mom, to Aunts, to cousins, to myself – we looked STUNNING! Despite the timing issues and a bit of tension, I whole heartedly recommend Ayari and her team. I sincerely hope to work with her again in the future for ANY even that requires a professional make-up look. She is very talented and a very sweet person!
